Limerick Vibe project to help people laugh and banish the blues

By Anne Sheridan
Published on Tuesday 24 April 2012 14:00

Good vibrations are still being sent throughout the city by a holistic, voluntary group who have now moved into the Hunt Museum.

The Limerick Vibe project was previously based in Sarsfield Street after being launched last November, but has now relocated to Limerick’s eminent museum.

Nadine Buttery, one of the founders of the project, and a tai chi, and meditation teacher, said the momentum of the Limerick Vibe continues to grow, as many people are now more in need than ever of their holistic therapy due to the economic atmosphere and financial worries.

The classes, which are all free to the public, include yoga, meditation, chant, laughter yoga, and Tai Chi, and aim to bring “a bit of peace, harmony, fitness and health into people’s day-to-day lives.”

Ms Buttery said the Local Heroes group came to their rescue and helped them to find a new premises recently, with the Hunt Museum now accommodating all of their classes in their multi-function room overlooking the river.

“The relationship between the Hunt and the Limerick Vibe has grown over the past few months, where both groups are beginning interesting collaborations, which will be offered to Limerick over the coming months,” she said.

The Limerick Vibe have also become involved with Limerick Lifelong Learning Festival, where they held free large open air laughter yoga and tai chi classes in the city’s parks.

Due to the success of these classes, more of these will be held during Riverfest over the May Bank Holiday weekend. They will also be holding a live human sculpture event in the Hunt Museum that weekend. The next open day is on Saturday, April 28, in Ormston House, Patrick Street, where any one can drop in from 10am-6pm to enjoy a line up of classes and therapies all day long.

No booking for classes is necessary, but participants can make a donation of they wish.
